According to Peoria Public Radio, Galesburg may see its first legal recreational marijuana sales next month, but only if there's enough cannabis to go around.
Nature's Treatment of Illinois currently owns a dispensary in Milan, near the Quad Cities. The company is opening a second, recreational-only dispensary in an old Aldi grocery store in Galesburg.
The adult-use dispensary has faced delays linked to a statewide shortage of cannabis supply. Under Illinois law, medical patients get first dibs on product. Other dispensaries have faced shortages due to high demand.
NTI said it's plotting a mid-March debut for the Galesburg dispensary, with food trucks in the parking lot on opening day.
Cannabis dispensaries currently operate in Peoria, East Peoria, and Canton.
